Short notice becomes possible. Most of Pam's calendar needs planning, but a Geist household asking about a gap next week has a genuine chance of getting one, simply because there is no travel to absorb. If timing is your constraint rather than budget, say so when you ask.

Water changes the conversation

Geist is a reservoir community, and drowning and near drowning come up in these classes in a way they do not elsewhere in the metro. Rescue breathing and what to do with an unresponsive child pulled from water are part of the curriculum, and in Geist classes they get more time because the room asks for it.

Who books here

A mix. Households with young children, grandparents who have the grandchildren regularly through the summer, and boat and dock families who want the people around the water to know what to do. Ten seats covers most of a household's circle.

Which class do Geist families usually book?

If nobody needs a certification card, the CPR party is almost always the answer, because $595 covers up to ten people rather than one. If someone needs documentation for a job, a school district or a licensing board, that is Heartsaver for non clinical roles or BLS for healthcare workers. Is a bystander protected if they step in?

Yes. That is what the Indiana Good Samaritan law exists for: it protects a person who acts in good faith during an emergency, and it is the second question Pam gets in almost every class. Who teaches it

Pam is a registered nurse with more than twenty five years of experience, most of it in labor and delivery, and she is certified as an instructor through both the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross. She has resuscitated newborns in a delivery room and performed CPR on a stranger outside a hospital. That background is why the class does not feel like a slideshow. More about Pam.
